Gate-keepers

To guard the gateways of our lives is important.  We, as men, are called to be GUARDIANS, like St Joseph was for Jesus and Mary.  As we are called to protect our families physically, so we are also called to be gate-keepers of the mind, heart and spirit.  Recently, I read these lines concerning “thoughts” as the rudder of life — from the poet Samuel Smiles:

Sow a thought, reap an act.

Sow an act, reap a habit.

Sow a habit, reap a character.

Sow a character, reap a destiny.

Every Guardian should have a Catechism of the Catholic Church.  Along with the Catechism there is a book called the Compendium [to the Catechism of the Catholic Church].  They are books that every Catholic family should use for their formation in the faith [and their children’s formation].  Parents are the first educators of their children.
