St. Peter's Cathedral
Fr. Patrick Payton, the “Rosary Priest” had the beautiful expression: “The family that prays together stays together.” Fr. Payton, from Ireland, and later a resident of the Diocese of Scranton. His cause for canonization as a saint is now being studied in Rome. While in Scranton, Patrick Payton was a simple sacristan at St. Peter’s Cathedral. Later, he became a member of the Holy Cross Fathers [King’s College] living at Notre Dame University. He is an excellent model of manhood and priesthood.
